Welcome to the website of the New Redbridge Wind Orchestra, a community concert band based in Barkingside, Essex.

The Orchestra was established in 1996 mainly to provide somewhere former students of the Redbridge Music Service could continue to play after leaving school/university and into adulthood. Many of our current members came though that route. The Orchestra is also the perfect vehicle for people who perhaps learned to play a woodwind or brass instrument at school but lapsed, for one reason or another, and are seeking their way back into music in later life.

The Orchestra currently has around 50 members and rehearsals are held weekly on Thursday evenings in school term time. A number of concerts are given each year in and around the London Borough of Redbridge and sometimes further afield, often supporting local or national charities. Whilst striving to deliver entertaining performances of a high musical standard, the aim is, above all, to provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which members can come together to have fun and enjoy making music.

The Orchestra has an extensive music library and its repertoire is varied, with something to suit most musical tastes, including arrangements of well-known classical pieces, music from stage and screen, and original works composed especially for concert band.

We are always keen to welcome new members of approximately Associated Board Grade V standard and above, who are interested in developing their musical talents as part of a friendly and supportive group. There are no scary entrance auditions!

On this website, you will find photographs, details of recent and future concerts, rehearsal times, venues and contact details. Whether you are interested in joining the Orchestra or simply want to come along to one of our concerts, we look forward to hearing from you. Also, if you would like the Orchestra to play at a concert to help raise funds for a worthy cause, please do get in touch.
